Ready for the weekend...

for some reason (maybe the reason like its 1:54 am and I am still not in bed!) this week has been very exhausting to me. :( Hoping to have my energy back soon!
*this picture makes me happy...I wouldn't mind curling up in that teepee for a nap!

Hope everyone has a great and restful weekend!

Little Neph

My sister's husband was recently deployed and so my sister came back to California with my little nephew to wait for her husband to return back to the states.

I am sad my brother in law is so far away from his family, but I have to admit I love getting to see my sweet little nephew every day!

I snapped these photos today when he came over to play...

Can you believe he was born 2.5 months before his due date? What a little miracle baby! I also went to a girl baby shower this weekend for my old friend Kailee...It was so fun to see so many PINK presents for a change! :)

*picture found here

tonight we had a little impromptu play date with Jacklyn and her Johnson boys!

Turns out her husband is as nutty as mine for football and the 49ers and our cute little boys all had fun running wild together as well.

Not to mention thanks to her generosity I left with this Trew Luv goody I have been eyeing for quite some time. Isn't she so talented? In fact, I just had to contact her about ordering a peony clip she was modeling so beautifully!

Hope everyone has a good weekend! The weather here is supposed to be just perfect!

*Oh...we also added these "fill in the blank" cards to the shop. I think they turned out rather cute, if I do say so myself!

Yesterday Micah got a hair cut. Can you believe he has NEVER had one?! He had his bangs trimmed twice and that was it! He did not really want a hair cut to start, but he seems happy with the results.

I on the other hand am just dying! I like that I can see more of Micah now, but boy do I miss those golden curls!

And another change...sir Isaac turned 8 months old last week. 8 months!!!! Between that and Micah de-curled I might just have a break down!

Couple things I wanted to record about Isaac:

*he is still scooting just as fast as ever and his favorite thing to scoot to is now the fireplace

*he still gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth vigorously

*he LOVES his voice and likes to make lots of loud noises

*he has TWO bottom teeth and a top one poking in...

*still nursing and I can't believe I forgot the pain of being bitten!

*still loves to watch his brothers play

*still sleeping in our bed and is taking up all the space!

*eats EVERYTHING...really...even baby food I look at and think 'there's no way he'll go for this...' he gobbles it right up! And he still loves his mum-mums!

SO many little changes...but one thing hasn't changed! I LOVE my boys!

What I Would Tell Them (if I knew what to say)

You are a miracle.
And I have to love you this fiercely: So that you can feel it even after you leave for school, or even while you are asleep, or even after your childhood becomes a memory.
You’ll forget all this when you grow up.
But it’s okay.
Being a mother means having your heart broken.
And it means loving and losing and falling apart and coming back together.
And it’s the best there is.
And also, sometimes, the worst.
Sometimes you won’t have anyone to talk to.
Sometimes you’ll wonder if you’ve forgotten who you are.
But you must remember this: What you’re doing matters.
And you have to be brave with your life so that others can be brave with theirs.
And nurturing the good in this world is nothing short of a privilege.
That’s why I have to love you this way.
So I can give what I have to you.
So that you can carry it in your body and pass it on.
I have watched you sleep.
I’ve kissed you a million times.
And I know something that you don’t, yet:
You are writing the story of your only life every single minute of every day.
And my greatest hope for you, sweet child, is that I can teach you how to write a good one.

*Three times this last week Colby's teacher wrote that he was having a hard time concentrating at school. 3x. At first I thought he just had an "off" day and he told me he was just tired. But after her third note I decided that it just had to be something more. So today we had a talk. At first he didn't say much, but slowly tears came down his sweet little face as he told me that there was two boys at school who weren't very nice to him. In fact, they have been down right mean. And it broke my heart to see my beautiful baby boy growing up and experiencing that kind of hurt. I'm sure these children don't understand the depth of their actions and I know kids can just be mean sometimes and that doesn't make them "bad" children. But at the same time it really broke my heart to see my son hurting to be picked last or told to go play something else because they don't want him on their "team". Or to be shoved as they jog their laps in PE.

So I hugged him. And I told him it was OK. And I told him that not everyone will always like us. But all we can be is who we are. I reminded him that Jesus was not very popular with many people in His time here on Earth, but even as He was mocked and murdered He continued to show love. And so I told Colby to keep being himself. And to keep being friendly. Even when they tell him there's no room for him to play. I told him to not worry about those 2 boys and to focus on the 25 other friendly children in his class. Oh Colby...I called his teacher and I didn't mention the boys' names but when I said there were two boys she said, "Was it ___ and ___?" I kind of wish if she had noticed something earlier she would have said something but I'm guessing she must not have realized that it was affecting Colby so much.

So I was having a hard time getting to sleep and I remembered reading those words above on this blog. And it said all the things I didn't say to him but definitely felt in my heart.

Family Exhibit.

I am still loving the Family Exhibit by Darcy Miller. What a wonderful way to preserve family memories. I just wish she had a boy! I would love to see her ideas to creatively display hot men...and legos!

I love how simple yet beautiful each one is.

my heart's cry.

To give unselfishly, to love the least of these
Jesus I'm learning how to live with open hands
All of these treasures that I hold will never satisfy my soul
Jesus I lay it at your throne with open hands

And I lift my hands open wide let the whole world see
how You loved, how You died, how You set me free!
Free at last I surrender all I am with open hands
with open hands

To finally let go of my plans
These earthly kingdoms built of sand
Jesus at your cross I stand with open hands

And I lift my hands open wide let the whole world see
how You loved, how You died, how You set me free!
Free at last I surrender all I am with open hands, with open hands

You took the nails and You wore the crown
You hung your head, Your love poured out
You took my place and you paid the price
So Jesus now I will give my life.

And I lift my hands open wide let the whold world see
how You loved, how You died, how You set me free!
Free at last I surrender all I am with open hands
Jesus I lift my hands open wide let the whole world see
how You loved, how You died, how You set me free!
Free at last I surrender all I am with open hands, with open hands

with open hands
with open hands
with open hands

Too cute.

These are so cute I had to share. Now usually I would have to say that the Japanese have hands down the best ,cutest packaging.

But right now I am really loving these animal crackers boxes that got a makeover using a design by Lilly Pulitzer. I found them at Target (of course) in the toy section of all places!

Hope your weekend was great!

baby isaac's nook...

*I first discovered Kendra Smoot in Martha Stewart's Bluelines magazine. She styled the above photos and the photo on the right was one of the photos that inspired Isaac's space

All of my babies started their lives out in our bedroom... Colby and Micah never even used their cribs until they were around a year old!

Though I love having my babies in an arm's reach, it makes space VERY limited in our bedroom so I only bring in things I absolutely LOVE and/or need.

Isaac's little space consists of only 3 things: a bookshelf, rocking chair, and crib. The book shelf and rocking chair were handed down to me and Billy from when I was a baby! I love how sturdy they mom kept them in great condition, they just needed fresh paint so Billy painted them the perfect shade of white to match Isaac's crib.

I knew I wanted to use mostly white for Isaac's little corner, but I also wanted to bring in some cooler blues and greens (think soothing ocean hues) with pops of orange (think sunshine) to remind me of how Isaac was born at one of my favorite times of year: Summer!

I need to take pictures of his little nook...we next to never get good light in our room, but I'll still try to snap some! I love how everything came together, I smile every time I walk past his little corner!

Some of the treasures you'll find in Isaac's nook:
water droplet friend by Bla Bla

I absolutely adore this pillow

anchor grid pillow in aqua by My Perennial

Isaac enjoying his custom made baby quilt by the talented Jamie.

I bought this letter press print to remind me that as much as I want to protect my children from everything what I really need to do is let them sail freely and discover the ups and downs of this great big world on their own...

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a wonderful day with family and friends! What a humbling thought that Jesus died for us while we were still sinners...but I am SO glad that He did and that He rose on that 3rd day and set us free! I am so happy to be celebrating LIFE! Happy Easter, love the Wilson's!

beautiful blood-by the waiting

Breaking the coals
Makes the fire burn bright
Doesn't seem right
Doesn't seem right

Plowing the row
Makes it outshine the field
Doesn't seem real
Doesn't seem real

But of all the things
That don't make sense to me
There is yet a greater mystery
The river of Peace
That flowed on the wood
The beautiful blood
The beautiful blood

Meek is the lion
and brave is the lamb
Don't understand
Don't understand

The death of the One
To bring life to the rest
Who would have guessed?
Who would have guessed?

But everything's clear
Next to the mystery
Of almighty God nailed to a tree
To carry a debt
That I never could
The beautiful blood
The beautiful blood

Yes, everything's plain
Next to the mystery
Of almighty God nailed to a tree
Taking His place
Where I should have stood
The beautiful blood
The beautiful blood
